The New Moon and a partial solar eclipse is Thursday, September 1 at 3:03 AM Mountain Daylight Time (MDT).
A New Moon is always good time to reset and refine intentions and when it is accompanied by an eclipse is carries even more power. We are moving into a time of consolidating and collecting our energies for what’s to come and this New Moon is a great time to review where you have been and where you wish to go. The most important thing is to know what you want. If you don’t know what you want, at least tell the truth about what you don’t want. Eliminate what does not work, what no longer fits, and open the possibilities for something new to become clear and begin to emerge.
The first few days of September will be a great time to go within and to make some inner decisions and personal commitments that will put certain things into action for you in the future. It is a time to set things up in the right way, realign your goals to match your heart’s desires, get the support you need, and make a plan.

New Moon/Solar Eclipse
Sun and Moon in Virgo ~ 9º

It’s a powerful month of alignments opening with the Sun, Moon, and Earth aligning perfectly for this second eclipse period of the year. First, we have this solar eclipse on September 1 in Virgo and then a lunar eclipse on September 16 in Pisces. Although visible mostly across Africa and Asia, they are nonetheless felt globally. Eclipses let us realign with our highest intentions. We can release at the deepest levels and honor what is ending while starting out on a new foot and begin anew. It’s a dynamic opportunity to use the order of the celestial spheres to energize our lives. But that’s only a part of the whole.
This month:
-MERCURY RETROGRADE from Aug. 30 until Sept 21
The eclipse and New Moon cycle in Virgo is colored and highly influenced by Mercury’s retrograde. At the very last degree of Virgo, our thinking and communicating messenger – neutral and androgynous – decides to reverse and give us another five weeks in Virgo to shine a critical, discriminating eye on our plans refining and organizing what we want to bring into manifestation and helping us to really feel into the thought patterns ready to be released that serve an old consciousness. Mercury extending its time in Virgo is wanting us to examine what do we hold as sacred, how will our devotion to our own inner truth carry us through the challenges to the end of the Saturn/Neptune cycle to 2020. We take stock of our inner resources, honor our harvest and hone our craft. A non-linear time, yet with potential for great productivity.
-VENUS/JUPITER/MERCURY CONJUNCTING in late Virgo
Like diamonds in the sky, these personal planets meet and conjunct from Aug 27 to Sept 2. They open our heart, invite it to soar, and support the alignment of body, mind and spirit to all we are experiencing now. It’s a beautiful and blessing-rich prelude to the eclipse.
-JUPITER LEAVES VIRGO and enters Libra for a year on Sept 9
A big leap for Jupiter, the beneficial gift-giver and luck master, into Libra, the sign of cooperation, relationship, diplomacy and refinement. Venus rules Libra so there is a kinship between these two benefic planets. Libra will bring increased balance – seeing all sides of a situation and seeking harmony, collaboration and win-win resolution, also more desire for engaging others socially and intimately, and increased value placed on beauty and the refined arts.
-SATURN SQUARES NEPTUNE for the third and final time on Sept 10 between the eclipses
Saturn square Neptune is dominant in this chart. Saturn (Sagittarius) squares the Sun/Moon/Eclipse (Virgo) and Neptune (Pisces) opposes it creating a stressing T-Square for this New Moon eclipse and strongly intensifying the final square of these two heavy weights in mutable signs (10º). As a closing square of this cycle begun in 1989, we have until 2020 to complete the social-political lessons here. A closing square is about a shift in consciousness ~ realizing the lessons in a cycle, summing up, and re-orienting, beginning to turn away from the old, accepting what is and forgiving, while beginning to feel the first influences of the new from the invisible plane. It will take a few more years to distill the wisdom of this cycle and feel a resulting deep transformation take place. In the mean time, this is a most pressurized period – this last of three Saturn/Neptune squares (Nov.’15, June, now). Saturn rules the structures enforcing the beliefs we hold. We accept certain limitations and disciplines in return for social order. Neptune, on the other hand is a dissolver of boundaries, pointing toward unity, idealism – the best that can be imagined, spiritual unity, the visionary aspect of imagination. Neptune says we must dream true about welcoming in the highest consciousness we can at this time. Saturn tends to dig its heels in to protect the old order. Neptune in Pisces is inviting us to look not outside ourselves for truth, meaning and direction, but within. Saturn in Sagittarius is struggling with the last vestiges of dogma and the disillusionment of beliefs in a purely physical existence cut off from the feminine and Spirit. Mutable signs ask for growth and learning, being flexible and learning how to adapt to shifting circumstance. Can you allow yourself a little quality time alone daily to fertilize the process instead of growing the product?

We can expect to feel the effects of Jupiter moving into Libra even more strongly as the Sun also moves into Libra at the Equinox- a power point of balance.
This is not a month to lose your attention. With so much shifting and changing, intensifying and retrograding, there’s a deep need for down time, for the body to catch up, for the metamorphosis to render its process complete. With Mars in Sagittarius held back for so many months (April-Aug 22), we are being freed in stages to release that Sagittarian arrow that holds our vision and dreams. The pace picks up from here. Mars and Saturn have met in conjunction (Aug 24) and Mars now knows what he wants to devote his energy to. The eclipses will act as rocket boosters especially when we clear the gates of Mercury returning to direct motion on Sept 21 and finally leaving full retrograde on October 6.
