New Moon is Monday, July 4, at 5:00 AM Mountain Daylight Time (MDT).
This is an emotional moon and in keeping with the themes for the month, use it to focus on your self care, your personal needs and healing your heart. How do you heal your heart? You love yourself, you cherish who you are and you treat yourself like you would treat the most valuable thing in your life. Pay attention to beauty and allow the higher emotional center to be activated in you through the beauty you see in your life and all around you.
You can be greatly inspired during this time, or you can get mired in your judgments, cynicism, and all the nasty negative feelings you have been holding on to for so long, maybe even lifetimes. It is time to move on from all of it, to put yourself first, to forgive others and to allow the transformation that wants to happen to begin to unfold. Spend some time in and around water today if you can, and use it to nurture and feed something new and unique to you that wants to grow and emerge.
Be patient with others, accommodate them in your life, but take care of yourself first.

Cancer New Moon
Sun and Moon in Cancer ~ 13º

We welcome this new season with a Cancer New Moon and an opening of our emotional bodies. The time of Aries in spring brought us the element of fire, Taurus brought us into the practical earth element, Gemini engaged the mental air realms and now we turn our attention to the feminine, water ruled aspects of life. Cancer is ruled by the ever changing, cycling nocturnal Moon in all its phases. Water becomes one with all that it comes in contact with; its boundary less, yielding nature is shaped by its container and environment. It changes its form and state from liquid to solid to gas like no other element. Water is at the same time powerfully erosive as well as life giving. YOU are water. Yes, some air, some earthy matter and a spark of fire, but predominantly, you as a physical being are water.
The water signs, Cancer, Pisces, Scorpio are all feminine/yin (with Scorpio being the power sign-fixed of the three). Cancer is the personal water sign; Pisces the more universal, compassionate water sign. Cancer is the sign of the Mother, the breasts, the stomach, the home, family; her cry is ‘I feel’. Cancer can feel into another person, know how it feels to be them, and so can be highly empathetic and even psychic. Cancer rules the 4th house in the zodiac, the one that sits at the bottom of the chart, and along with home and family, it rules our roots, our tribe and our ancestors. Our home is the seat of our private life, and the Moon ruler says this is where our security needs are met. Cancer is receptive, fertile, empathetic, nurturing and protective, as well as patient and supportive. Like summer, the season Cancer initiates, her direction is the South – the outer feminine that creates a basket, a home where love and connection can abide and life can be seeded, nurtured and carried forward to insure the generations.
Expect an actively emotional Moon cycle as the Sun and the inner planets, Mercury and Venus, travel through Cancer now. Cancer may have some deep root chakra work in store for some of us as these planets take turns in the next two weeks first opposing Pluto in Capricorn 16º– urging us towards releasing and transforming structures representing security that have held our society (or our personal lives) together in the past, and then those same planets squaring Uranus in Aries 23º demanding we break free into areas of feeling we have not dared to tread. Perhaps you’re shattering family imprinting or vestiges of karmic experience you have brought forward to this life time, or reaching back into the shadowy disappointments and fears of your ancestors and transforming that power (Pluto) into a courageous vision of the future for all of humanity (Uranus). You also have the very strong possibility of shape shifting this emotional energy into heart expanding waves that ripple outward from you to all your relations, to all of the web of life.
Be open to riding the waves of emotion that present themselves. Cancer loves fiercely and protectively with her large, snapping crab claws and her tender, loving inner belly. Watch for moodiness, with holding, evasiveness, insecurity, self-pity that suggests there’s a logjam in the emotional arteries that needs to be expressed. Begin to parent your self, answering your own needs for attention, love, care taking, soothing and nourishing self to restore peace and balance to your water nature. Draw on the powerful flow of love, nourishment and support from Pachamama, Mother Earth, Gaia and see your creativity grow, your power of receiving expand, fertility for all you are birthing manifest easily.
Sun/Moon, Mercury, Venus in Cancer are offering the gift of water trines to Neptune in Pisces, and the New Moon chart holds a Grand Trine with Chiron, Venus, and Mars’ now in forward motion in Scorpio. These trines offer the possibility of touching into more love, more connection with Self, more competence after emotional release from your wounding, self-imposed inadequacies, more deep healing and forgiveness of what was lost during times of separation and domination. Water trines can joyfully lift us up to remember who we really are in this Earth plane stage craft.
Mars has just completed a long three-month retrograde that began in Sagittarius 8º where Antares, one of the four Royal stars, resides. With Mars retrograding all the way back to Scorpio 23º, we are ‘harnessing the heart of the Scorpion’ and bringing forward (in its highest expression) a new psychological health and relationship to true masculine power, a renewal of the kundalini force of Mars with which to meet the Feminine. On August 22, when we again pass the degree from where he left off for his inward questing (8º Sag), action can truly leap forward. Mars only retrogrades every two years and normally spends only six weeks or so in a sign, so being forced to spend 17 weeks before he can again cover new ground, makes him quite eager for action, adventure and risk taking with his renewed and revitalized energy. It can also release pent up heat and anger, so be aware of impatience, but while you are considerate of how you tread with untangling snafus and blocks, also begin to create momentum in your life. Much preparation and movement can be readied for the time when Mars is able to move fully ahead on Aug 22.
Let this deeply feminine Moon soften your emotional edges and allow you to nourish your inner being with silence, nature, and extending to others your love and kindness. These are rigorous and pressured times we are experiencing currently and now is the time to fill your emotional reserves with grace and ease. Fill your heart with rose-colored light; let it also fill your belly as you breath deeply. Now fill your third eye with this warm, glowing color and radiate it out to every cell in your body to be bathed in love and nurturing support. Breathe deeply and fully.
