Living With Divine Discomfort
This weekend an opposition from Saturn to the Sun and a semi-sextile from Venus to Neptune remind us that sometimes the best way to solve a problem is to simply let it go unsolved, to live with its questions hanging in the air, for a while at least, and see how that feels. If you’re anything like me it’ll niggle and nag away at you, stealing rest and peace while it occupies way too much of your energy and attention…. and then, gently, gradually, it will begin to take on a different hue. The creativity which lives at the heart of uncertainty and confusion will begin to bubble up to the surface. The blessings of having resisted the urge to jump in and get everything sorted will reveal themselves in the form of new perspectives, deeper insight and a patience you wouldn’t know you had if you hadn’t decided to stand back and let the problem realise its own true nature.Which is what problems do given enough time. They’re alive, just like we are. They, too, arise out of environmental conditions, like us, and they change and grow into something altogether new if we let them, just as we do given the space and time to do so. The more we can welcome a problem as a curious acquaintance on our journey rather than an obstacle to it, the better able we will be to allow the things which stress us to become the roots of our wisdom and growth rather than the cause of our resignation and despair. We do not have to work everything out, make life water-tight and fool-proof. That’s not life, that’s sterility! Instead the presence of problems in our life speaks to us of potential, of the beauty of a universe with paradox at its very heart and mystery coursing through its veins.
The modern world largely dislikes the unknown. That’s why we want research into everything, experts to tell us what to do and answers available at our finger tips at all times of the day and night! God forbid we should not know, or, worse still, we should make a mistake and end up somewhere we didn’t anticipate as a result of too readily grasping the wrong end of the stick. But this weekend the universe whispers gently in our ear, ‘There is no wrong end of the stick. A problem is not an either/or, a test you pass or fail. It’s a source of mystery, intrigue, creativity. It is the Divine itself, speaking into your lives, revealing the very heart of existence in which all things – every contradiction and paradox, truth and lie – live and breathe in harmony’.
It can be so hard to grasp, this mysterious world in which we live, the life we have been entrusted. Its vastness intimidates so we shrink it down to a manageable size, narrowing our field of vision and reducing the chances of unpredictability and unbidden occurrences. In doing so, however, we fail to realise that we render ourselves less effective, not more, because when we are side-swiped or blind-sided by life, as we inevitably are from time to time, we are ill-prepared, believing that such things will not happen in this safe little realm we have gone to such trouble to create.
Which is why the cosmos right now encourages us to embrace the unknown, the mystery, the divine discomfort of not knowing what to do or how to make something better; not knowing how to get back to the safety we thought was our own. The more we can do that this weekend the better able we will be to respond to life from a place of raw creativity and newness, not stale and rehearsed habits and attitudes which can only ever take us back to where we’ve been and never forward to where we need to go.

Viviendo con Incomodidad Divina
Este fin de semana una oposición de Saturno con el Sol y un semi sextil de Venus a Neptuno nos recuerda que a veces la mejor forma de resolver un problema es simplemente dejarlo sin resolver, vivir con sus interrogantes colgando en el aire, al menos por un tiempo, y ver como eso se siente. Si se parecen a mí, les molestará y mortificará, robándoles paz y descanso ocupando mucha energía y atención…. y entonces, suavemente, gradualmente, comenzará a tomar un matiz diferente. La creatividad que vive en el corazón de la incertidumbre y la confusión comenzarán a burbujear hasta la superficie. Las bendiciones de haber resistido la urgencia de saltar y resolverlo todo se revelarán solas en la forma de nuevas perspectivas, una introspección más profunda y una paciencia que no sabían que tenían si no se hubieran decidido a dar un paso atrás y dejar que el problema revelara su propia y verdadera naturaleza.
Lo cual es lo que hacen los problemas si se les da el tiempo suficiente. Ellos están vivos al igual que nosotros. Ellos también surgen de las condiciones ambientales, como nosotros y ellos también cambian y crecen para convertirse en algo totalmente nuevo si se lo permitimos, justo al igual que nosotros si se nos da el espacio y el tiempo para hacerlo. Mientras más aceptemos un problema como una relación de amistad curiosa en nuestro viaje en lugar de un obstáculo para el mismo, más seremos capaces de permitir que las cosas que nos estresan se conviertan en las raíces de nuestra sabiduría y crecimiento en lugar de la causa de nuestra resignación y desesperación. No tenemos que resolverlo todo, hacerlo todo hermético y a prueba de tontos. Esa no es la vida, ¡eso es esterilidad! Por el contrario la presencia de problemas en nuestra vida nos habla de potencial, de la belleza de un universo con una paradoja en su propio núcleo y con el misterio circulando por sus venas.
Al mundo moderno le disgusta grandemente lo desconocido. Es por eso que queremos investigarlo todo, con expertos para decirnos que hacer y respuestas disponibles en la punta de los dedos a toda hora ¡de día y de noche! Dios no quiera que no sepamos, o peor aun, que cometamos un error y terminemos en algún sitio que no anticipamos como resultado de tomar con demasiada premura el extremo equivocado de la vara. Pero este fin de semana el universo nos susurra suavemente al oído “no hay extremo equivocado de la vara. Un problema no es un esto/o aquello, un examen que aprueban o no. Es una fuente de misterio, intriga, creatividad. Es el propio Yo Divino, hablándole a nuestras vidas, revelando el verdadero corazón de la existencia en el cual todas las cosas – cada contradicción y paradoja, verdad y mentira – viven y respiran en armonía”’.
Puede ser muy difícil de captar, este mundo misterioso en el que vivimos, la vida que se nos ha confiado. Su vastedad nos intimida y por eso nos encojemos hasta un tamaño manejable, estrechando nuestro campo de visión y reduciendo las oportunidades de impredictibilidad y ocurrencias inesperadas. Al hacerlo sin embargo, no nos percatamos de que somos menos efectivos, no más, porque cuando la vida nos barre o nos enceguece, como inevitablemente sucede de vez en cuando, no estamos bien preparados, creyendo que tales cosas no ocurrirán en este pequeño y seguro reino que tanto trabajo nos ha costado crear.
Qué es la razón por la cual el cosmos nos estimula ahora a abrazar lo desconocido, el misterio, el malestar divino de no saber que hacer o cómo hacer que algo sea mejor; no saber cómo regresar a la seguridad que pensábamos que era nuestra. Mientras más podamos hacer eso en este fin de semana mejor dispuestos estaremos para responderle a la vida desde un lugar de creatividad y novedad natural, no con hábitos y actitudes que solamente pueden hacernos regresar adonde hemos estado y nunca hacia delante adonde necesitamos ir.
