Pope Francis is calling for governments to redistribute wealth to the poor in order to stop the global “economy of exclusion.”
Francis made a speech on Friday to United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon and the heads of major U.N. agencies, who met in Rome, The Associated Press reported.
Francis asked the U.N. to begin a “worldwide ethical mobilization” to embrace the poor with a spirit of generosity. He said policies must be developed to stop the root causes of poverty and hunger, ensure dignified labor for everyone, as well as protect our environment.
“Specifically, this involves challenging all forms of injustices and resisting the economy of exclusion, the throwaway culture and the culture of death which nowadays sadly risk becoming passively accepted,” Francis said.
Last September Francis made waves when he criticized the global economy for worshipping “this god called money.”
“I find suffering here … It weakens you and robs you of hope,” Pope Francis said during 2013 a speech addressing the suffering of the unemployed. “Excuse me if I use strong words, but where there is no work there is no dignity.”
“We don’t want this globalized economic system which does us so much harm,” he said. “Men and women have to be at the center [of economic systems] as God wants, not money.”
Those remarks drew criticism from American conservative pundits Rush Limbaugh and Sarah Palin, who lambasted the Pope’s sentiment for being anti-capitalist.

Note: Very interesting statements considering Pope Francis is being
tried in absentia for crimes against humanity, child trafficking, rape
and more in the International Criminal Court. In addition, I’m seeing
behind the scenes movement where it appears monies are being finally
released to help relieve suffering amongst the general population, and
it doesn’t appear the Vatican is providing the relief. Who is, I’m not
sure, possibly SwissIndo or the long awaited RV. How and when funds will
be available for the masses has yet to be determined.
