This new moon is supportive of bringing pieces together to make a whole. Like working on a puzzle where you don’t know where a piece fits until you try it, this is a time to see what pieces fit. If they don’t fit, they are excess. If they do, make a place for them so they can become part of the whole. This is also a way to observe your priorities. The pieces that fit nicely are the ones that will continue supporting you on your true path. The ones that do not fit are distractions, connected to something old and unimportant, or belong to someone else.Be patient right now as many things are still in process and there are many unfinished threads that may have you feeling unsettled.

With Venus conjunct the Sun and the Moon in Leo, this New Moon is unequivocally about the heart in all its manifestations ~ our physical hearts at the center of our bodies holding the powerful spark of life that keeps our hearts beating; our emotional hearts that connect us to the web of life and all living beings; and our spiritual hearts bringing through our divine essence as our gift to all we touch. Leo the Lion, ruler of the heart, connects us to our ability to be in our power with courage, to communicate our presence with a roar, to align our will with our knowingness (our 3rd chakra of Will/Action with our 6th chakra of Wisdom/Intuition).
Reset your intentions for the next New Moon cycle from the Leo frame of mind, from your source. Leo is about what you love, honor, protect. Regulus, one of the four royal stars (along with Aldebaran, Formalhaut, and Antares) and much brighter than our Sun, sits at the Heart of the Lion in the constellation Leo. Leo is the fixed, fire sign of the zodiac. Call in the golden light at the center of your being, fill yourself with faith and confidence, and call in your unique purpose to be strengthened and magnified and all distractions and energy leaks to drop away. Focus your talents, so your creativity has a clear channel to run through. See yourself as the King, ruler, creator of your life and set your intentions from there.
Leos need appreciation, to be seen, to express themselves. Count yourself lucky if you are in the inner domain of a strong, balanced Leo influence. Leo, the Sun and the fifth house of the zodiac combine to encompass children, artistic expression, gaming, entertainment, and recreation, speculation/risk, politicians, and stock brokering, social affairs, lovers and romance. Artistic self-expression and creativity – creating your Self is what Leo is all about. Mars has just entered Leo on August 8, so we will have an active, lingering Leo influence as we move more into the realms of Virgo at the end of the month. Venus, so prominent because she is conjunct the Sun/Moon, is all month retrograde in Leo having briefly touched into Virgo in July for 2 weeks. What a tease she is. Now nine+ weeks longer in Leo after the six weeks she spent there in June/July, that’s over 14 weeks ~ far more than her usual four weeks in a sign. Surely she has much to share with us about inner warmth, strength, creativity and courage. Venus will be conjunct the Sun on August 15 where her light is hidden and merges with the brightness of the Leo Sun, and then she will leave her position as evening star and emerge as the morning star on August 22 beginning a long cycle ruled by regal Leo bringing forth the archetype of The Empress/Queen. According to Angeles Arrien in The Tarot Handbook, and I paraphrase here, …The Empress is the ‘internal motivating energy for expressing love in the world’ and for breaking destructive patterns that hold back our self-love and love for others. The major challenge is ‘sorrow held in the mind’ where we abandon ourselves and continually rework old wounds. Setting clear priorities, being clear in our commitments, and expressing our abundant feelings with integrity and honesty are the tools of the Empress/Queen. This feminine archetype teaches that ‘the capacity to receive is equally as powerful as the capacity to give’. ‘Nurture and support yourself in equal proportions to how you nurture and support others’.
We have four planets retrograde: Venus plus all the outer, transpersonal planets – Uranus, Neptune Pluto. It’s inner reconstruction time ~ especially on the collective levels – until the end of Septemberish. I’ll simplify it like this: Uranus=evolution, Neptune=consciousness, Pluto=power. Now you synthesize it. When you add the strength of Venus’ extended retrograde in Leo, we have the opportunity to expand our hearts, excavate our self-worth, bring more harmony and beauty to our living, and have more relaxation, joy and pleasure playing out in our lives. Grab these gifts with both hands!
Jupiter made a huge leap this week. Leaving its year in Leo and beginning a one-year sojourn through VIRGO! Lucky Virgins! Lucky us as we begin to bring all that fiery Leo energy down to earth and welcome in the practical, integrating and discriminating energy of our efficient Virgo selves. Already Mercury, Juno, and now heavy Jupiter are tipping the scales toward Virgo’s skillful attention to detail and establishing a new workable order in our lives.
Saturn is in its final five weeks of Scorpio clearing out the basement of any unreleased emotional material you are called on to discard. People are clearing out their closets/houses/storage with a vengeance to make space for new joy. Highly recommended as a guide is a profound little book called Life Changing Magic of Tidying Up by Marie Kondo bringing joy and presence into your life through the material world. After all, the outer world reflects your inner, yes? If you’re committed to bringing a big change into your life, of eliminating the old, this is a powerful way to begin. I’ve seen the tangible results in those who have applied her principles.
