As August enters we are reminded that it is nearly the end of summer (in the northern hemisphere). I am glad because I am not a big fan of hot weather. But it also means that we are moving quickly towards the end of the year and for some people that can be a reminder of everything that has not happened yet or everything that they have not done. But don’t despair, there’s plenty of time for taking action – aligned action, that is – and August is a great time to get started. While the Universe can be the source of frustrating delay, it can also create time warps and very fast action when that’s appropriate.
We start August with Mercury retrograde in Leo. 2025 started with Mars retrograde in Leo and the strong Pluto/Mars opposition in Leo/Aquarius. Think of how this year began – Mars the planet of Action and ruler of Aries, the first zodiac house, opposing Pluto, the great transformer in Aquarius, the 5D sign. That was a marker for what we would be seeing all year, the light/dark challenges, the 3D/5D integration in full force, and the ongoing ascension path.
August is an 8 month in a 9 year, and 8+9=17, 7+1=8. So we have a double 8 vibe this month and that’s going to bring more multi-dimensional work, more material/spirit integration, more 5D energy, and more energy expansion.
The number 8 is associated with money, wealth, and power, as well as rejuvenation, restoration, and balance. The key to success in August is balance – alignment and integration, intention and action, purpose and expansion. It’s time to take off the rose colored glasses and be honest about your real motives and motivation. No more bland mindset theories that do not take energy into consideration. It is time to be congruent, whole, and energetically sovereign. August was named after Caeser Augustus – the great Roman emperor.
On August 8 we celebrate the 8-8 Portal, the Lion’s Gate. It is an energetic portal that marks the passage of our Sun and our source of light and of life with Orion’s Belt and the star Sirius, the brightest star in our solar system. These 3 lights travel together during this time and activate an energetic portal that is our reminder that we are of the light, we are light beings, and that it is the light that sustains and empowers us. This year’s Lion’s Gate portal is more powerful because we have the triple 8 energy – August is the 8th month, the 8th day, and August 2025 is an 8 value. We have especially powerful descension energy happening at this time too. So use this day to plan something special for yourself and to use this energy for yourself. And I may have something planned for this date too, I will let you know.
If July felt stagnant and slow for you, and the heat and weird weather did not help, then August is going to feel much better, especially if you like action. 8 is the number representing infinity but it also represents the integration of human and divine, the balance of energies between material and spiritual, the action path of intention to manifestation. This is about flow, not force. The number looks like 2 circles but it also represents the toroidal mobius that is the true structure of the Universe. It is not some vast open and endless plane, it is a tightly organized structure that expands and contracts under its own energetic impulses.
With this double 8 energy and the presence of all of the large planes (Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto) in very early degrees
of their signs, it’s time to put some plans in motion. Even with the upcoming retrogrades starting next month, and Mercury’s current retrograde until August 12, we can get started. With Mercury retro happening 3 or 4 times a year, for 9 weeks at a time (counting the shadow periods), and only 52 weeks a year. That doesn’t leave a lot of time for action if you wait for those times when Mercury is not in a retro period. It’s OK to start new projects now, just make sure that you double check all of the details. And leave some room for changes, reconsiderations, and upgrades. Mercury retrogrades can also help you see where you have not been assertive or self-aware enough in the past and that means you want to make changes to something you would have agreed to or tolerated before. The ‘re-dos’ of Mercury retro are not always a bad thing.
This is also a great time to be open to new ideas, to establish your energetic sovereignty, and to consider actions you would not take before. You do not have to wait until you have an ‘I can’t take it any more’ moment. You do not need the motivation of frustration or anger to encourage action taking. And you do not need permission to take action either. How many times in the past have you waited for someone to agree that your next move was the right move before taking action? Remember my ‘blue dress’ story – give yourself a ‘try on’ period and always leave room for course corrections. It’s OK to change your mind. I was talking to a client this week, explaining that he could just try something before committing. He looked confused so I asked him if he remembered my ‘blue dress’ story? He laughed and said yes, and then he understood that he could use a trial period before fully committing, to make sure he liked what he was doing.
This is a good time for balanced manifestation, using the balance of the 8 energy to ensure that we are considering all of the options and acting with spiritual and material integrity. I heard something this week, from someone who claims to be a ‘business coach’ and decided to sell a course on manifestation because she has been studying the Law of Attraction for 13 years – which means she started when she was 16 years old (utterly ridiculous). So in her program description she talks about the law of attraction, which has very little to do with manifestation and it’s far too one-sided and generalized to be of any value anyway. And then she says that it is ‘dangerous’ to take aligned action.
Really? So are you supposed to take random action that is not aligned with anything or just sit around and wait for the Universe to drop something in your lap because that is what the Law of Attraction teaches and what you saw in the movie ‘The Secret.’ Most insane advice ever, given by someone who does not know what she is talking about but like other internet grifters, sees an opportunity to make money by selling people pie in the sky fairy tale theories and dressing them up with their own version of nonsense.
If I sound harsh I mean to be. These charlatans do more damage to people who genuinely need and want information, who are often desperate and depressed, and then they buy these nonsense programs that give them bad advice and they are worse off than ever. I have had an online presence since my first website in 1999 so I have seen a lot of internet grifters, charlatans, and nonsense peddlers. They eventually become irrelevant but not before they hurt a lot of people and take them for a lot of money.
Choose your teachers and mentors carefully. Make sure that what they are saying is aligned with your truth and with the spiritual truths that you know are correct and aligned with spiritual principles.
August has a full moon on the 9th in Leo/Aquarius and it is right when Mercury stations direct in a close opposition to Pluto – echoing the Mars/Pluto opposition in the final week of April 2025. Anyone for a re-do of any actions then? Not that we have to go over old territory, but we can recapture the energy we may have not used or did not have the energetic resources to take action on at the time.
The Pluto in Aquarius paradigm is very new for us, it has not happened since 1778, so we have a lot to learn to use it effectively. It’s also accompanied now by a strong Saturn/Neptune conjunction in Aries, which is reinforcing aligned action with attention to bringing the spiritual and material elements together in all of our choices and decisions. This is not about being spiritual, it is a clarion call to have a balanced perspective that integrates both the spiritual and material. Spiritual awareness with material action is the key to success now.
And we have more action in August with a new moon on August 23 at 0 Virgo, amplifying the 0 and 1 degree placements of Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto. Fresh starts, new beginnings, and a choice to embody the Martyred Healer or Empowered Master paradigm with the powerful energies of August.
There are many choices to be made this month and they all center around August themes of awareness, alignment, and action.
How are we going to use awareness to be better stewards of our energy resources?
What are we aligning with and how do we use our alignment to create intention?
How do we take action that is aligned with our intention and expresses our awareness?
There are 5 aspects of energy action – express, depress, suppress, repress, and oppress. We unconsciously engage these actions in everything we think, say, or do. While we tend to think of other people as our oppressors, we usually do that to ourselves when we doubt ourselves, don’t take action, don’t honor our needs, allow others to influence our choices and decisions, and don’t use our power for our own needs.
If you’re ready for a change, August provides you with the energetic resources to do that. And if you’re not ready, the Universe may just throw a few things your way that allow you to reconsider your choices. With a strong Mercury retrograde until August 12, you have time to reconsider, review, release, rethink, repurpose, and rest.
It’s another powerful month with a lot of energy to use so put the August energy themes to work and create the reality you love that is the best expression of your energy and your energetic sovereignty. Have a wonderful month.
